Can’t help but reminisce about this time, two years ago.
A day when I was literally showered with so much love & blessings.
And of course presents!
I don’t think I have ever received so many presents as I did on that day. Must be the sum total of my 30 birthdays 😛 .
Shravan organized the most wonderful baby shower for me. All peaches & creams.
Family & closest friends came from all over to make it even more memorable.
Honestly speaking, I got acquainted with the concept of a baby shower only in Bangalore.
And what a beautiful concept it is.
It’s a way to celebrate the expected birth of a child by presenting gifts to the mother.
Traditionally, there are various forms of it.
Godh bharai in the north, Valakappu for the Tamilians, Sreemantha for the Kanadigas.
The modern baby shower is a lot more fun with games & goodies for all the guests.
I had both. The baby shower party was followed by a traditional Godh Bharai next day.
Many communities, including mine don’t believe in buying things for the baby before the birth.
It’s fine if you receive them as presents. So it’s also very logical to have a baby shower!
Pregnancy can have its own ups & downs for the expecting mother.
This one day can make them feel extra special. It’s the day to bask in the glory of pregnancy.
Sharing some snippets from that memorable & amazing day :-).
